Benny Goodman – Benny Goodman, His Orchestra And His Combos 1941 - 1955 (1996)

As part of getting to know jazz, I've picked up a couple of cheap, low budget compilations of the 'greats'. Clarinetist Benny Goodman (name checked in Half Man Half Biscuit's It Makes The Room Look Bigger) is one of those and I doubt I've listened to this before.

Having now listened, it's fine. It's an album of nice gentle jazz standards from the 1940s and 1950s, which make pleasant background, but don't really want to make me actively listen.

There's only a couple of stand outs, including the lovely Memories of You.
