This is a cheap label compilation, picked up for pennies in a charity shop, feeling that I should won something by Louis Armstrong.
And there are no surprises. What A Wonderful World still sounds great, as do Hello Dolly, Cabaret and especially older stuff like Basin Street Blues and Ain't Misbehaving. But a lot of this album consists of live recordings, where the band's performance is far superior to the sound recording quality. There are no credits or information about these recordings, clearly no musician on this CD has seem a penny from it. This drop off in quality is particularly evident in the second half of the album.
As a compilation, I'm sure there is much better, and certainly worse, out there, this one giving passable versions of the more famous 1960s hits, with lots of live filler. And no Mack The Knife!
2* - Some hits, and a nice one to have on the shelf, but the fuzziness of the second half lets it down.
