I reviewed another one of Scott Cossu's CDs about two years ago, and recounted the tale of how a number of CDs from the US jazz label Windham Hill came to be in my possession.
This is the first time I've listened to this particular CD, and it wasn't with a lot of enthusiasm after reading my very lukewarm review of his 1987 album She Describes Infinity (long since departed to the charity shop).
This album feels stronger, although there is still an air of "I'll just put you on hold" about many of the pieces. Jamaica, the opening piece is one of these, a guitar and piano duet. Demeter / Rejoicing however, is more interesting, with a Keith Jarrett feel to it, Kinsa even more so.
But it's back to the bland for the rest of the album, so I'm afraid it will follow its fellow Cossu CD to the charity shop.
2* - a couple of interesting piano pieces, but mostly just background.
